Waiting to Live
Oil on Canvas, 24 x 48
I was coming out of Versailles near Paris when I saw these
schoolboys
sitting on the curb. I tried to photograph them without them noticing me,
but the one little boy looked up and smiled. He told the others that I
had taken his picture. I named it "Waiting to Live" in contrast to the
painting
"Tired of Life" by Ferdinand Hodler that I saw in the Alte Pinakothek
in Munich.
